It'd be nice to have a web service with your host status info, or even just an easily parseable web page that a person could poll every 30mins or something..

Something similar to the info available at https://www.linode.com/members/main.cfm but w/o all the extra 'fluff' and perhaps w/o having to log in?

If something like this exists already, could you provide a link/info?

Thanks

What I'm particularly interested in would be the availability of the monthly network transfer totals. The host summary info is good too, but I'd really like to be able to check how much bandwidth I've consumed.

I could write up a libwww-perl or curl script to log into the page and parse out the values, but it would be really nice to access this sort of information through /proc. That way the information for each linode would be available just to that linode, and each linode could ignore the information or use it.

Would it be possible to set up UML with a /proc/linode (for example) that made some of this information available?

Is there any chance of this happening? either via the website, or via something accessible from within the linode?

Thanks

I've been working on adding more features to Lish (the console shell) -- one of the commands will be something like "stats" and will give you host stats, your Linode's bandwidth usage for the month, and perhaps uptime of the host... Eventually, you'll be able to submit your ssh key via the control panel, and access the host like so:

ssh LinodeUsername@hostX.linode.com stats

There's already some support there, like for shutting down and rebooting...

which would be nice for remote monitoring, it would be nice to have an snmp agent on the host which could be polled from the linode for mrtg monitoring purposes

and then if we wanted to get really jiggy...

put a monitor on the host and if your linode goes down it e-mails you a text message to your cell phone for disaster response by pager... haha

could even monitor individual services too ;-)
