Linode has one of the best DNS Management tools I've seen, would be really awesome you guys also where a Registrar. I believe there's a huge fee that ICAN charges, but your interface is very clean, with no adverts! I -really- like that. And hope someday you guys consider selling domains at reasonable rates. Atm I use 1and1, and moniker.com to buy/manage cheap domain names.

1and1 suck as do godaddy. Google will tell you why.

The fee is per registry, not a one off thing. That's why registrars all sell different domains. Selling these things is only worth it if you sell a lot. An easier way would by to resell domains and let name.com, eurodns, or whoever take care of the back end. It might be possible to work something out with them.

I don't think it would be too difficult for Linode to become a reseller of one of the better registrars. That wouldn't incur a huge upfront fee.

The real question, though, is whether or not Linode is willing to distract itself with a side business like that, especially when anyone can get a domain from any other registrar with relative ease.
