I've been a Linode customer for nearly nine months. During that time, I've experienced near perfection with every single facet of their service. When I first switched over, I found everything wrong with my prior VPS provider, perfectly handled by Linode.

Anyways, now on to my issue. Which, compared to past issues I've had with other providers, seems rather trivial.

So, I decided to update some of my website ads to take advantage of Linode's referral program. I implement a Linode ad and test the link to make sure everything works properly. However, when I checked the "REFERRALCODE" cookie which gets created by the referral link, I noted the "expire" parameter must be set to 0 or omitted because the cookie expires "at end of session".

I'm thinking maybe this is a bug (which is why I'm posting here). I don't expect some crazy long expiration, however, 30-days, 14-days or at a minimum, 7-days would be nice.

Could someone from Linode please address this? Naturally, I realize I could've created a ticket but I thought a public discussion would be beneficial since this affects everyone promoting Linode's referral program.

Done. It's now set to expire after 14 days.

WOW, 5 minutes 47 seconds after posting, my issue is fixed (which I just confirmed) and my post responded to. 14 days seems very reasonable.

Thanks Chris!

If you'd have opened a ticket it would have probably been less than a minute...

True, but to quote myself, I did state...

I thought that maybe others had noticed this issue and could benefit from a public discussion. Now, everyone knows that a 14 day cookie gets set.
