Hi,

Could somone please help me out with support ticket 19154. Or if you prefer to do it in the forum, the ticket said:

Hi,

Could you please help me out on this. My Linode is seems to be experiencing some strange problems at the moment. I am seeing a mixture of the following issues:

1. I try to connect via ssh (using PuTTY) and I get a message saying the following:

WARNING - POTENTIAL SECURITY BREACH!

The server's host key does not match the one PuTTY has cached in the registry. This means that either the server administrator has changed the host key, or you have actually connected to another computer pretending to be the server' ....

2. I try to connect via ssh (using PuTTY) and simply get 'server does not exist'

3. There are two sites installed on the server: http://www.sinconta.com and http://www.somervilleformal.com. If I try to view these, then I get either 'This page cannot be displayed' i.e. server not being found or ... more strangely, I actually see the website which is really at http://www.mnin.org/. (I have no previous knowledge of this site)

4. If I reboot the Linode, I can see both the sites and connect to the server using PuTTY as usual for about 60 seconds. Then at least two of issues 1, 2 and 3 start to occur and I can no longer log in to the server in order to try and diagnose this.

Please could you let me know your thoughts on this.

Many thanks!

(Just for reference, we responded to the initial ticket on this 10 minutes after it was posted).

Looking at your console logs, I'm seeing an ifconfig for an IP that doesn't belong to you.

Configuring eth0:
ifconfig eth0 64.62.190.146 broadcast 64.62.190.255 netmask 255.255.255.0

However, your IP is 66.220.1.133.

Your DNS set-up has errors for both domains as well. Check them here.
