I am currently running 2.6.18.8-x86_64-linode1. Is Linode able to compile and make available a newer version of a 64-bit kernel?

Newer versions have better ip6 conntrack support.

Thanks,

Raf.

Xen requires kernels beyond 2.6.18 to support pv_ops, of which there is no 64 bit pv_ops support in mainline yet. So, for now, we're stuck with 2.6.18 for 64 bits.

I routinely run 2.6.21 and 2.6.22 x64 kernels under Xen. In fact, my primary dom0 (not a linode) is running 2.6.22.

Ubuntu, for instance, has a set of sources. I think the ones I built came from Red Hat.

Gentoo has a 2.6.21 kernel (sys-kernel/xen-sources-2.6.21).
