Hello all.
1st of all, am sorry if my question seems odd.

but I just have 4 days experience with all of *nix stuff and managing a server, and I was lucky to find my way to get my server configured and running with this little period of time reading a lot of how-tos.
ok I'll go to the topic directly.
I need little how to for setting up SMTP using linode and be able to use mail forwards. (and SPF if you can)
am using linode 360 with ubuntu 8.10
I have done installed postfix and mailx
and my server send out email as well.

my needs
I don't need anything, but adding some forwards email.
so if someone mailed foo@mydomain.com it'll forward to my@email.com
without keeping the mail at my server. (thats why I installed mailx
using this how-to)
but I was unlucky, and I think it's a SMTP issue, because I didn't set one at all.

so any help, suggestion or links to some how-tos are very welcome.

Ever heard of Google Apps? Gmail for your domain? Not exactly what you asked for in the OP, but does the job perfectly well. Best of all, there's no need to mess with your own email server, and it's completely free.

This is what I do on my server; took 5 minutes to set up, and works perfectly.
