At just after 3am GMT (11pm Eastern?), all but one of the psybnc bouncers hosted on host2 were disconnected from their IRC networks. Seven hours later (just after 10am GMT), logging into SSH took 3 or 4 minutes. And now, it takes over 3 minutes to parse a simple man file. The load on my Linode is at steady 0.00 all the time, and the control panel shows the host load as Medium. Could you possibly look into this Chris please, as it's rather frustrating trying to get any work done when things time out all over the place!

Read that thread.

I was having the same problem, then I switched my kernel to pre8,
and I haven't had the same load on my linode since, but it hasn't fallen
down yet either.

This was the classic scenario of a Linode without enough swap space (or otherwise swap thrashing). I identified the offending Linode and took care of it.
