I use ConnectBot on my Android phone (HTC Dream, known as a G1 in the US), and am very happy with it.
ConnectBot is a full featured SSH client, I have yet to find a functino that I can't perform remotely that I can do from home. It's responsive, even running top on Australian 3G it updates every second, and is available for free from the Android market. AndFTP is also pretty handy for directory maintenance, though I still prefer the SSH client.
Surely there is something similar for the iPhone? Obviously the lack of a keyboard would be annoying as you'd presumably you'd lose half the screen to show the keyboard, and entering punctuation could be painful.
There are a thousand and one SSH clients for the iPhone (along with VNC, RDP, etc). Last time I checked, though, all the SSH clients were commercial.
There's a free RDP client that works pretty well, though.
