It would be awesome if the list of domains could be sorted alphabetically so as to make is easier to find one when you need to make changes.

Granted, thats not very often, but its a "nice to have" I'd like to see.

Same for VPS names.

Agreed. Is it just me, or does the order of zones in the DNS manager sometimes swap around randomly between reloads?

I've been meaning to request this as well - and have yet to figure out the ordering scheme currently in use.

Agreed with OP, the domain manager can really get messy with many domains listed. A sorting option link in the table head cells would be great. Say sort by name (this is the most important), created, last modified.

IMO this would be a really nice improvement on usability.

However I like the way the zones are laid out, it's fine to have the records sorted by its age (or recordID or whatever: oldest on top)

I've modified this GreaseMonkey script to make the table sortable. It's a bit of a dirty hack, but hey, it works.

second edit: now implemented by Linode directly. Are these guys awesome or what?

Sortable lists of Linodes & Domains has been on the list of things to implement for a while, but there never seems to be enough time to get everything done. I've just pushed the code to the live site for this. It's basic but functional - and it's all client-side so it's very fast.

Enjoy.

Did this update somehow fall out of the manager? I can't seem to find it any more. I was specifically looking for being able to sort hostnames for a particular domain, so maybe this was never in place? Thanks!

This is a welcome addition to the DNS manager, thanks a lot.

I wrote before that domain records are great the way they were (sorted by age - or by their id in the database)
However now I'd really like having this sorting feature on the individual domain view page as well. Some of my domains have a quite long A and/or CNAME record lists and these often look a bit messy. I'd really love to have them sortable by Host name, IP, Alias, etc. -> the table cells with 'tablesub' class ATM.

Please consider implementing this.

In addition to this a couple of minors:

1) Can you order the records within a domain i.e. the A/CNAME records.
2) Can you order the domains in the clone a domain select.

Thanks
Luke
