I have some project with Japan-related content. Several people have told me that Japanese hosting (a data center based in Japan) is preferred to make sure that Google/Yahoo will give the best possible listing for Japanese language searches.

My question is: can you offer Japanese hosting (a data center based in Japan)?

I think there are three ways google determines what country a website belongs to.

The domain name country code.
The IP address geo location.
Webmaster tools.

From what I've heard, as long as you have a .jp domain name, or set the preferred location in webmaster tools, you can host in any country.

I suspect that Fremont will be the best latency

Judging by the Twitter traffic for Linode during the Fremont DDoS a couple days ago, I would say there are already quite a few Asian users of the Fremont location.
