I realize there's already another request for native IPv6 transport here, and although I am looking forward to the day this can be implemented, I'm also happy with using my own privately set up tunnel broker for now.

One area that doesn't appear to be covered in that request is to have IPv6 interface(s) added to the Linode DNS servers. I'm in the process of switching to a registrar that supports IPv6 glue, at which point the last IPv4 requirement in my chain (disregarding the fact that my 6to4 technically requires IPv4 on my end) will be DNS resolution on the Linode servers. I could, of course, configure my own DNS servers to run over my tunnels as well, but I'd rather not commit the hardware resources and (minimal) bandwidth unless absolutely necessary. :)

I don't really care how many of the nsX.linode.com servers support v6 initially (I noticed two new name servers appeared recently), but having at least one available for testing would be fantastic.

What registrar did you find that does IPv6 glue?

What does "IPv6 glue" mean?

Does it mean that you can use IPv6 addresses for the NS records for your domain maintained by your registrar?

Also, beyond symbolism, how important is that? Isn't it mostly about being able to turn off IPv4? But wouldn't a machine that had IPv4 turned off be a lot less useful?

I'm sorry if these are dumb questions...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glue_recor ... ue_records

"IPv6 Glue" is using an AAAA record for the glue, instead of or along with an A record.

Right now? Yes, but there are IPv6 sites coming online every day. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4_address_exhaustion for a rough estimate of when it will be useful.

Exhaustion of the IPv4 address space is a reality.

I would also be interested in the ipv6 accessible name servers as I am doing my cert though HE.net and it is one requirement.

Are there any plans on setting this up at this time?

HE.net does offer DNS services: https://dns.he.net/ and you can get reverse DNS for your IPv6 addresses. I have it set up for my devjonfos.net domain.

I've been using dyndns.com for years for domain registry, and they have supported IPv6 glue for a year, maybe more.

Even the mighty GoDaddy is providing IPv6 glue these days (at least on com and net).

I tried the HE.net DNS servers very briefly, and although I'm glad they offer the service, the interface is nowhere near as nice as Linode's.
