today i have install my linode...
i want to prepare my forum before i direct my domain here...

so that, i tried to access "public_html" through the ip
but i have noticed that the ip redirect me to this folder:
var/www/index.html

what can i do to make the ip redirect me to this:
/srv/www/mysitename.com/public_html/index.html

???

i think you need to use the ipaddress when you declare the virtualhost, assuming you are using apache2.

ex:
<VirtualHost 12.34.56.78:80>

instead of <VirtualHost *>
