I just moved my lucid server to linode and nearly everything is working fine. The one hiccup that I can see is that my system is trying update grub-pc but it is failing:
Code:
Setting up grub-pc (1.98-1ubuntu9) ...
dpkg: error processing grub-pc (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Any suggestions as to how to fix this? Clearly not critical but irritating.

Hi ...

can you please let me know what steps you took to move your non linode server to linode?

Are you using a linode provided kernel or your own? I'm not sure that you need grub at all (none of my linodes even have it installed)

I'm not sure why your rsync might be crapping out -- I had no problems whatsoever. Is this a server that you have physical access to? If so, try booting up with a livecd so you don't have to worry about active processes.

I'm using the linode provided kernel. No, I don't think I need grub either -- it just feels incomplete to me when it gives me an error.

I'd just remove it. Maybe it's trying to write to the MBR of the disk or something like that and failing.
