I am running this kernel:

Code:
cat /proc/version

Linux version 2.4.26-linode27 (root@host4.linode.com) (gcc version 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)) #2 Wed May 5 17:08:21 EDT 2004

and want to know if it supports transparent proxy. If it does, is there something I need to do to turn it on? If not, do any other kernels support this feature?

I want to use this in conjunction with stunnel.

Thanks,
John

Transparent proxies intercept a masqueraded or routed request for port 80 and redirect it to a proxy server. How would this be useful on an linode?

From the stunnel man page:
Quote:
-T transparent proxy mode

Re-write address to appear as if wrapped daemon is connecting from the SSL client machine instead of the machine running stunnel. Available only on some operating systems (Linux only, we believe) and then only in server mode. Note that this option will not combine with proxy mode (-r) unless the client's default route to the target machine lies through the host running stunnel, which cannot be localhost.
