So, i pent the last week lurking around this forum and the web looking for information about Linode. I have to say, everything I found made me want to get a Linode tattoo. I read through the data centres down time and issues part of their website and was very impressed with the way down time and problems are handled. I'm coming from godaddy (I am sooo embarrassed to admit that) so you can imagine the differences and why I'd be so excited to come over and join the Linode heads here.

This brings me to my point. The only problem I have found, and THANK GOD I read about it in these forums before it happened.... The purchase page is crapolla. I filled out the form, blah blah blah and received and email asking for the drivers licence (back and front) and the credit card (back and front) to be faxed to some fax machine.

Anyway, as I said, I am soo glad I read about this before hand. Otherwise, this would have sent me running. I offered to pay with a different card, that is really all I can do I guess. It is strange that the normal ways of verifying an order aren't in-place.

I hope this gets squared away and I have the opportunity to be a part of this community...

Sometimes, there are false positives; however, certainly you can appreciate such concern, Mr. Richard Astley of "General Delivery, Schenectady NY 12345" :-)

The automation seems to do a decent job of auto-approving new accounts, but it tends to err to the side of caution. Probably for the best, from a network security/fraud/abuse/national defense standpoint, but not a great welcome to the club.

(p.s. Welcome to the club)
