Not to complain too much, but would it be possible to tweak the reverse DNS setup page to be a little more clear as to what you should do?

I'm confused about what goes in the "hostname lookup" box. :/

Otherwise, I'm having a blast (in a l33t sort of way) configuring up the new server. ;)

I can do that.. What do you suggest?

Here's how it's supposed to work.

You enter a FQDN (host.domain.com, or whatever)
We perform an nslookup.
If it matches one of your IPs, you're asked if you want to set the RDNS of that IP to the name you entered.
You answer Yes/No, changes take place within 24-48 hours.

Basically, first you've got to have an "A" record for the name you entered pointing to the IP you want to set the RDNS to, and it must be "working" out on the net (propagated).

Add, in small text, beneath the box something like (i.e. yourdomain.example.com) and then include, in larger text, an explanation more-or-less like you gave, above.

*sigh* now the wait for my DNS to transfer over. :/

We've had reverse DNS changes take effect inside of a couple of hours, so hopefully your wait won't be too long!

I also improved the handling of timed-out lookups on the webserver.

I hope so. I'm currently fleeing an ISP who just had a 1.75 day downtime. I calculated that they have still managed to hold onto *one* nine of uptime, which, nontheless, is pathetic.

I mean, my currently-in-need-of-refitting-when-i-feel-like-blowing-money-on-it literally-pulled-off-the-roadside firewall that tends to crash while I'm at work at least isn't down for more than a few hours.

Not to rant or anything. *sigh*

Yeah, caker, that interface makes sense now. Hopefully the change will take effect and I can *use* it. ;)
