I'll try keep this short (it's hard to do lol).

I need to host the invision powerboard script with ipb nexus ( http://www.invisionpower.com ). This requires installation of Zend optimiser or iOncube.

I'm currently with mediatemple and using their dedicated virtual server. It's far to expensive and cluttered when you want to administrate this yourself and customise to your liking. Opting for their (ve) package might be useful for some but they offer no UK based servers and is still rather expensive.

So my basic requirements are that I can play around with the server and install packages to my liking and that I can get a decent price whilst maintaining a level of support mediatemple are advised not to provide on my current plan. So is linode for me?

Hi Rhydian,
My partner and myself just signed up yesterday and are in the process of setting things up for what we need. So far I can say we are happy with the move to linode. Setup was fast and pain free, and a few things I couldn't figure out I was able to get the answer to quickly from other users in the irc channel. Ive been installing packages that I need on our setup without a problem. I have to say its been a god send compared to what we went through before to get stuff done. All in all I would recommend linode to anyone.
Ive set my 3 linode 768s up with debian6 and been install the packages I need for irc stuff and haven't had a problem. Good luck :D

Yes definitely is. I was pretty impressed as I emailed linode with a couple of pre-sale questions extremely early Sunday morning (4am est) and got a reply back from them within 13 minutes answering all my questions completely. Ive never had that kind of response time from a host in the past.

Looks like linode is the right choice. I really like Lish and the sever speed/location.
