I'm revamping some infrastructure for a project using a dozen-ish nodes, and I renumbered the IPv6 addresses to organize things better. Some of the old hostnames and numerical addresses are no longer in use. It would be nice if there was a way to get rid of the out-of-date reverse DNS entries in the rDNS manager.

It's just a nitpick, though. I'm loving the native IPv6!

I haven't tried it with IPv6 addresses, but with IPv4, I seem to recall that leaving the hostname blank will revert it to the default. Really good chance I'm wrong, though.

Leave what blank? You have to submit a hostname that has a matching A/AAAA record for something in the pool, and then it's a Yes/No whether you want to use it as the reverse or not.

I've seen the suggestion to enter the IP address itself into the hostname box. Whether this just sets a PTR record to the IP or whether it removes it entirely I don't know.

Personally, I have default rDNS entries for IPv6 IPs I'm not using. For example:

$ dig +short -x 2600:3c00::2:b101
dallas-2b-101.linode.rdns.mattnordhoff.net.

But DNS and IPv6 make me show my crazy side, soo... *shrug* :mrgreen:
