Hi everyone,

I want do download my Linode VPS or at a minimum download the Linode CentOS 6 template to run on my Win 7 PC under VMWare player to test out some SSH commands before running them on my live box...

Is this possible?

Thanks

This article should explain how to do it:

http://library.linode.com/linode-platfo ... e-over-ssh

You'll also most likely need to set up a bootloader and get a kernel installed to run it on a local VM.

Hey theckman,

Thanks for the quick reply....

Is there a CentOS 6 server image (without GUI) available that will just 'plug' into VMWare?

You could install one yourself from the CentOS ISO. Nothing we have, however, would just work with VMWare without some modifications.

Just download the first DVD of CentOS 6.2 (either 32bit or 64bit) and then select the SERVER WITHOUT GUI install option.

Much better to install your own VM then to run an unknown template from someone else.
