Hey guys, I've been trying to setup Postfix and Mailman on my server by following this guide http://library.linode.com/email/mailman ... -6-squeeze. However, I couldn't get it to work so I kept reading to learn more about Postfix and Mailman, and along the way tried some new things.

So far I'm able to send and receive emails via Postfix (eg. $ echo "hello" | mail name@address.com); plus Mailman can send out welcome emails to new list members. However, if I send email to the list, I get an email back with the error: User unknown in local recipient table

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my virtual something; but I can't figure out what I've done wrong. I did notice the /var/lib/mailman/data/virtual-mailman is empty. When I created the list, I never received an output of the aliases.

Would someone mind looking over my config files and here and point me in the right direction?

Did you add the aliases for each list (e.g. listname, listname-admin, listname-bounces, etc.) to /etc/aliases and then run postalias /etc/aliases? I'm not sure if Postfix automatically picks up the changes, so you may have to do a /etc/init.d/postfix restart also.

CentOS has a little bit different setup. There, Mailman has its own /etc/mailman/aliases.db file where it keeps aliases for each list that exists on the server. Postfix is configured to use these with the following in main.cf:

alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases, hash:/etc/mailman/aliases

If the Debian setup for Mailman also creates this file in /etc/mailman, it may be easier to set this Postfix config option rather than taking the actions in my first paragraph every time you want to add or remove a list.
