Google Apps is no longer free as of December 6, 2012. The third paragraph of this document should reflect this change:

http://library.linode.com/email/google-mail

Perhaps free alternatives should be mentioned. I know of none.

Thanks for notifying us about this change. I've updated the guide to reflect the new pricing structure.

Having said that, it appears that Google Apps is still free for single users. Please see this link for more information:

Just to clarify, this is for new accounts, existing users still fine (so don't freak out if you're finding this and already use it!)

Cool didn't realise you could use a custom domain with Outlook. I'll have to remember that when I need to set up email on a new domain.
