With having 20 Linodes now, we see quite a bit of emergency maintenance. Here's how the tickets currently read:

Quote:
Hello,

The host that your Linode resides on requires emergency maintenance at this time.

We are working on bringing this host and your Linode back online as quickly as possible. We will update this ticket as soon as we have more information.

We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this.

This doesn't really tell me anything, other than the host had an issue and needs to be rebooted. Is anything being done to ensure that it doesn't happen again? Should I ask to be migrated off of this particular host? No where does that message address these concerns. My proposed update would be:

Quote:

Of course this only works if the amended section is indeed true.

This doesn't really tell me what went wrong, but at least lets me know that Linode is doing something about it. This seems like a simple addition, doesn't reveal much (follows Linode standards of keeping hush hush about as much as possible), and makes me as a user feel more comfortable about the situation.

On accounts where I'm not paying the bills, but other non-understanding people are, this would be incredibly helpful.

Hi,

Thank you for providing this feedback. We will be reviewing the content of these notifications and making some changes to provide a bit more insight into what is going on.

I think the updated version you offer is an improvement, but it may not be the best response for all cases. There are some cases where the software stack is not being updated.

Again we'll be reviewing these notifications in the coming weeks and making sure they're accurate and provide as much information as possible. Thanks again for your feedback.

Dave

Yeah, it was just an example. Any kind of improvement would be greatly appreciated!
