Hi - I just found all my linux machines set to Israel time just turned off DST. The problem is, the country delayed DST about 7 weeks until October 27th (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/t ... html?n=110)

I tried updating tzdata on my ubuntu 10.04 machine via apt-get but the Asia/Jerusalem TZ file seems to be unchanged.

Even my linux mint 12 desktop doesn't have an updated TZdata file.

I spent about an hour trying to figure out how to get the updated files (elsie source files don't exist anymore?) or to manually patch it, but I don't understand the format of the file.

Do you guys have any suggestions for setting my machines to the correct Israel time? (or even turning DST back on, even if I have to fix it manually on Oct 27th)

Code:
# cd /usr/share/zoneinfo/ && zdump -v Asia/Jerusalem | grep 2013
Asia/Jerusalem Thu Mar 28 23:59:59 2013 UTC = Fri Mar 29 01:59:59 2013 IST isdst=0 gmtoff=7200
Asia/Jerusalem Fri Mar 29 00:00:00 2013 UTC = Fri Mar 29 03:00:00 2013 IDT isdst=1 gmtoff=10800
Asia/Jerusalem Sat Sep 7 22:59:59 2013 UTC = Sun Sep 8 01:59:59 2013 IDT isdst=1 gmtoff=10800
Asia/Jerusalem Sat Sep 7 23:00:00 2013 UTC = Sun Sep 8 01:00:00 2013 IST isdst=0 gmtoff=7200

It should be Oct 27th instead of Sep 7th for the switching date. How does the date line work? I can fix the date somehow and use zic to re-import it?

Thanks!

This would be updated in tzdata version 2013d: http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/tz-announce/2013-July/000012.html

Ubuntu hasn't released this for anything older than 13.10. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tzdata/+bug/1222345 for the bug (and potential workarounds).

That bug report had a deb file that fixed it. Thanks!
