I am a newbie and just rented a linode slice in tokyo japan. Last month the speed was ok, but starting from this month, my customers in china reported sudden speed drop which leads to difficulty in open my website. I use wordpress which could involve google fonts, so I disabled google fonts using a plugin, but still the speed of opening my website is very slow - rough one and half minutes to open. Anyone having the same experience, could you please help? Thanks!

China's connections to the rest of the world are notoriously overloaded, and it's hit or miss if any foreign provider is going to have a good route; it's largely outside the control of the foreign providers.

The only real solution to the problem is to host inside of China itself.

I agree with Guspaz.

I used to work for US and Chinese clients when I was working in Beijing and the only way to ensure that Chinese visitors could see the sites was to host in China. There are many hosting companies in Hong Kong that offer more reliable service than on the mainland, but expect to pay twice as much for half the features. (And don't expect to find anything similar to Linode there!)
