Pretty much run a marathon to learn how to get to this point. I must be close to fully operational now!

What should I be putting in these boxes. I have tried my Remote IP address in the hostname box as well as my linodes hostname.

I have already tried the steps as per that article (Changed the directory owner and group to www-data), still with no luck.

Is there something else I may be missing?

Are you using FTP (not recommended) or SFTP (recommended)? If you're using SFTP (SSH2) you will need to enable WordPress to use it. See this thread for details:
